When you change the oil, it is best to change the spark plug too. Doesn't cost too much but it will give you better fuel efficiency and power. Smoother too.Change this plug 90080-91161 but it is made in Indonesia. It works fine so no complain.

Radiator cap
It's been a while since I last post, a year plus went missing. It is due to nothing much changes and less usage of my Isis for the past year. This time I bought a new radiator cap to replace the original factory fitted cap in order to try to improve the cooling performance.
The original factory fitted radiator cap was from Denso 0.9 without spring type, small head. The one that I bought also original parts but not made by Denso. Not sure the brand but still the small head and without spring.
The story started when I notice a drop in cooling performance after my last service. The coolant temperature are a bit higher and I notice some coolant on the overflow tank top and nearby the radiator cap. Hence I believe the radiator cap had lost it performance and hopefully by replacing it, the cooling performance will be restored.
The cost of the radiator cap? RM30.00 and I bought it from my favourite shop in Sentul. However, the owner had opened another branch nearby Batu Caves there. Google for Gateway Auto Parts and you can find it. They carry a lot of Toyota parts too.

Denso Cool Gear Air Filter
When I bought the cabin air filter, I also bought the air filter from the same seller in Lazada, price wise is half of the original parts. Design is almost the same and the quality of the material is almost similar. A notable differences are the thickness of the filter. Cool gear filter a bit more thinner overall.
There are stamps of parts number on the front side of the filter instead of the side on the original parts. Original parts that I bought previously are Made in Thailand and the new is Made in China.

Radiator changed in the nick of time
It is a great Raya holiday and I take this time to touch up the car, washing and cleaning the engine bay during this holiday, while wiping the engine bay and filling up water to the reservoir I found something funny on the radiator. Something look not right as it was colour red on certain spot of the radiator and after have a further view using a torch light I think I spotted a problem of leaking radiator.
The photo above show the location of the leak as colour red same as the coolant colour of Toyota. It is so bad that it somehow crystallised on the radiator. Then I started to get worry of using the car for long distance driving. I need to quickly replace it in order not to get stranded on the highway.
I send the car to the mechanics for a check and they informed me that the radiator need to be replaced and after a quick check with the his supplier, there are no stock and an order from Japan will need at least 1 month to reach. The cost is a mind blogging 2k. That is unacceptable to me and I think there should be a better way. I quickly contact Zul from SPT Autopart which specialised on cooling parts, via whatsapp he managed to confirm and get me an original Denso radiator half the price. I previously bought another radiator from him before, the response time are top notch and very efficient.
For those wanted to get the radiator can jot down this number 422173-2630 (Denso). This would be the part number for the radiator and it is a direct replacement on Toyota Isis.
Else you need to google the parts number by Toyota.

Wald Supercharger for Isis ? Maybe
I always fancy to put more power to my Isis 1.8. Since it is clearly underpower for an 1.8l engine to pull the heavy body of Isis, I need more power to propel it up Malaysia famous touge location, Genting Highland.
I speak of it with my experience going up Genting Highland with my Isis in full load and I really struggle to drive it up. I never drive something so slow up that mountain before. The engine temperate are going up and the ATF temperature hover around 110 during the entire trip.
For more power, supercharger or turbo kit is the simplest way, and I had discuss before of a supercharger kit by blitz for the 2.0l version of Isis and now I found this kit in the local website for Toyota Wish 1.8 or Altiz 1.8. Isis 1.8 share the same platform and engine as both so I think it will fit Isis too. Maybe the bonnet might not close properly but this is something good and juicy for Isis.
Now price, what this company wanted to sell it for ? 10k plus apparently and this really a big stop sign. I think it is a bit too expensive and my personal feeling is that I might consider this kit if it is selling around 7-8k.
Anyway, there are someone out there with deep pocket that can afford this, so fellow Isis owner faster grab this kit before it is gone as it is rare to found a new kit for sale in Malaysia.
Good luck and cheers

Toyota Isis Halfcut
Latest from Mudah/my, are a halfcut for sale. This halfcut are from 2.0 D4 model with body model AMN10W. Engine are 1AZ-FSE.
Price wise are unknown but should not be too expensive.
I am interested on the HID, but not sure whether it fit my car original wiring. Recently, JPJ have crackdown on HID conversion car and I don't wish to donate money and visit Puspakom for checking.
Anyway, if you are looking for some spare parts, it is good to visit them.

Blitz R-Vit
If you are an owner of Isis, you will notice that the car didn't come with a water temperature gauge, although this is a common practice on all new japanese car but I still prefer to know what's the water temperate while I am driving.
Why ? Because I had a bad experience with my other car which resulted the engine overheated and stranded me somewhere in the highway.
Lucky for me, I manage to get myself a Blitz R-Vit from my other car and installed it into my Isis. This devices comes with 3 set of wiring, one from the OBD port, the other one from the cigar lighter plug and last if for the device itself.
I prefer a clean interior and hide all the wiring away from view hence I cut a hole from the button cover and pull the wiring inside the dashboard. The display itself was glue on using double sided tape. So far the double sided tape works even on hot weather.
Next is the power point, I route the wiring into the cup holder area and last is the OBD port wiring that I hide all behind the dashboard. A cable tie secure everything behind. Toyota Isis OBD port are located at the bottom of the dashboard (driver side) next to the latch to open the bonnet.
R-Vit is capable to display up to 6 parameter of your choice in the same time, but I prefer to show on 3 parameter as the display is rather small and bigger font does help during viewing.
The parameter that I choose for Isis is "Gear", "Water Temp" & "ATF Temp". It is good to know your ATF oil temperature to help you guard and save your gearbox from going bad. High ATF temperature will shorten the lifespan of your gearbox. Repair of gearbox is costly and it is not easy too.
