Drive shaft and engine mounting replacement

If you read my previous post before regarding the drive shaft, I have had problem with drive shaft for the longest time. Not really a big problem but the cover for the drive shaft always fail and it does really annoying and it does cost quite a lot of money to repair it. The labour cost to repair is more than the cost of cover item. So this time, I decided to remove and replace with an aftermarket (new) drive shaft to settle the problem.
A little back stories, for the past 1 year, the front drive shaft have grinding sound when turning hard so I had suspected that the drive shaft are beyond repair and should be replace for safety. I did a lot of outstation trip so safety is top priority.
Fortunately, drive shaft from other car model can fit to Isis. You can use the drive shaft from Toyota Wish 1.8 (ZNE10G) does fit and so far no problem after installing. The cost for an aftermarket drive shaft is affordable too. About RM250 each so RM500 for a pair, plus it is brand new. The brand I choose is GS-P, apparently a Malaysia brand.
Plus during the same time, the car engine does vibrate a lot during idling and I take the opportunity to replace the engine mounting set too. Luckily Toyota Wish come to help again, same engine mounting can be used and it aftermarket cost below RM400 for a set, but I do get a quote for an Original for around RM600 which is a great deal.

Before I forget, please remember to replace the drive shaft oil seal too each time when dealing with drive shaft, its a cheap thing and cost around RM30 each. Both side have different parts number so remember to take note of that.

Not forgetting, ready the transmission oil too during replacement of drive shaft, you will lose a few litre of oil when removing it and just top up as necessary or just replace the transmission oil in the same time. For me this time, just a top up.

Next time, I will show some photo of the broken drive shaft that was replaced.

Lockdown are gone, now for the outstation trip

It's been a while since my family gone outstation to visit my in-law house. The car was sitting there for the past 1 year and due for servicing. As I never send the car to official toyota dealer for servicing, I send it to normal car servicing and sometimes I do buy the parts myself.
This time, it is a bit different, my wife accidentally bought an oil filter online from my account by assuming I wanted it. So I am stuck with the bosch oil filter (first time using it) and I get myself a 4l engine oil.

Send the car for servicing and hope for the best during the trip back home. Both the oil filter and engine oil cost below RM150 and it is a great deal.

Never knew engine oil by Toyota cost so low. I been using aftermarket for the longest time. However I always stick with 5w-30. For me 40 grade is too thick. The car get sluggish with it.
